Marshall Flax, owner of Fork in the Road, is a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) and a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).  He provides these services as a senior staff member of a community-based not-for-profit organization that serves people who are blind or visually impaired.  Marshall has been in the field of vision rehabilitation since the early 1980′s and has been making these low vision simulators since 1994.

We are located in Madison, Wisconsin, USA (that’s approximately 150 mi/ 240 km northwest of Chicago, Illinois in case you’re not familiar with the small details of American geography).  The simulators have been purchased by organizations and individuals in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Why is it called “Fork in the Road”?

I’ve always enjoyed the wisdom of Yogi Berra and his oft-quoted statement “When you come to a fork in the road…Take it.” is one of my favorites. Somehow, it seems to fit my view of life. And so does “It ain’t over ’til it’s over”, but that didn’t seem like a good name for a company.
